Just listen to me if you want to lower your blood pressure and stop being a ticking time bomb. The medical system has ignored Black folks with blood pressure for years. They tell you cut the salt, lose weight, exercise more. They want you to stay sick and profit from you. But here's what they didn't tell you. It's not your fault. It's not because of your diet. It's not because you're not exercising. There's something in your blood called nitric oxide. It tells your blood vessels to relax, to stay soft, to let the blood flow through easy. Without enough of it, your vessels get stiff. Your heart has to push harder. That's high blood pressure.
